If you have ever looked at the bottom of a plastic bottle you may have noticed the triangle symbol with a number in it. This symbol is important to plastic recyclers to identify the type of plastic of the packaging.
There are a number of types and kinds of plastics. All require a different process of recycling. To deal with the difficulty of recycling plastics a system to mark plastics according to their type was created. These provide a uniform method of identification for the different types of plastics in order to help the recycling companies as well as the consumers determine which type they are. This requires the strict enforcement by manufacturers of plastics to place these symbols on the packs for easy identification.
